little tips for better health

Updated: May 13

Don't have enough time to commit to a routine or a diet? No worries, little changes have been discovered to be more effective anyway. Here, I'll include some small adjustments that can significantly promote well-being. No avoidance of the occasional ice cream cone necessary!

the air we breathe

Oftentimes, we forget that we are constantly breathing because we don't have to control each breath. Imagine if we had to! Regardless, all day, every day, we are exposed to many air pollutants. Depending on where you are located, you may be inhaling more than the average person. Pollutants can significantly affect the air quality, which can decrease our oxygen intake. The air is colorless, which tricks us into thinking that it is clean. Many pollutants are naked to the eye, including small particles like dust, gases (CO2), mold, dander, and other emissions.

So what can we do about it? Due to the advances in technology today, there are many options, both affordable and costly. Air purifiers are among the most effective devices that allow continuous filtration and air replacement. Imagine eating a bag of stale chips every day..not pleasing, right? Air purifiers allow for air movement and filter existing air to decrease the pollutant quantity ratio. Some provide more assistance than others across different brands, but here are some that are worth your investment;

air purifiers

most costly and best for allergies: Alen BreatheSmart 75i Air Purifier at Amazon $749

Make sure to read the dimensions that the air purifier covers, as these rates differ. This is referred to as the CADR or the clean air delivery rate. Measure the room you need the purifier for and keep this info handy.

My air purifier has saved me countless times! I have a furry kitty that constantly sheds. Our purifier has made a significant difference in our daily life, including reduced allergies and improved sleep quality. Get yours today, trust me, it's worth it.

plants

We have long known that the plants covering Earth's surface contribute to oxygen production and stabilization. This is why forest fires and deforestation are detrimental to the quality of the air. Air quality can be significantly worse in areas with little to no plant coverage, such as large cities. Therefore, the trip to your nearest flower market should be on your list of to-dos.

Surely, city apartments are limited in space, so large plants are out of the question. In this case, size doesn't matter; quality does. It is recommended that there be 2 or 3 small plants for every 29 ft. of space. That's doable. If you have pets, though, be aware of the plants that are toxic. The most common and pet-friendly plants include: the ponytail palm, aloe vera, and arabica coffee.

plants = health

If you would like to reduce energy consumption and your energy bill, we understand. Plants are cost-effective, long-lasting, and provide long-term health benefits. What exactly are these benefits? Let's discuss.

Investing time and energy into plants provides a direct benefit: cleaner air. Surely, animals in the wild do not have easy access to technology like we do. It's funny to imagine wild animals with an air purifier. But they are surrounded by Earth's most effective purifiers, plants. So if you think about it, a bear may be living in cleaner air than you are. No worries, you can change this. To fully convince you that there are benefits to having plants, here is a list.

  • boost immunity

  • reduce headaches

  • relieve respiratory complications

  • relieve allergies

  • reduce fatigue

  • improve focus

  • boost skin health

  • and more!

For your health, buy that cute plant! It's worth it.

aroma - scents to boost wellbeing

Maybe you already have plants and or a purifier, in that case, kudos to you, your body thanks you! There are more options to improve your overall health. Your concern may be more centered on cognitive improvement, such as reducing stress and promoting calmness. We have you covered.

There are many options on the market to reduce stress, but one of the most natural and cost-effective is essential oils. Some air purifiers have an option to add an essential oil, believe it or not. Diffusers are also on the market and are easy to maintain. The only 2 ingredients: water and your choice of an essential oil scent. Simply plug in the diffuser and the room will soon be filled with aroma.

Essential oils target your specific needs. For instance, some promote focus and concentration while others assist in sleep. Here are some essential oils for your needs;

sleep

Our energy is predetermined from the previous night. This makes it especially important that we prioritize our sleep daily to maintain energy levels. Studies have shown that sleep significantly impacts our health and even our longevity. This section is by far the most important of all others in this blog.

The recommended sleep duration is at least 8 hours each night. This can vary from age and existing health conditions. There are many little adjustments that can promote better sleep in both duration and quality. These include blackout curtains, soundproofing, white noise, fans, and weighted blankets.

The body undergoes many processes during sleep sessions. One of the most significant is the production of cells, and the replacement and repair of existing ones. Our body is always preparing for infection. Without proper sleep, our defenses are impacted, which can make it easier for bacteria and viruses to take control of our bodies. Don't let them get the upper hand; make sure that you integrate some helpful sleep practices.

the best listeners - pets

Furry friends are beloved companions who are also the best teachers. They are experienced in promoting healthy habits. Don't believe me? Let's break it down.

While adorable, animals require care and time to maintain their health. Dogs, for instance, require that you teach them to pee outside on the grass, though some may be reluctant; it is key for them to be potty trained to keep your home pee-free. Some breeds of dogs also need to be walked consistently to provide activity and proper joint health. They have to eat meals just like us, so it is crucial to feed them breakfast and dinner (and dessert if you like). Just with the things I mentioned, a dog is teaching you to feed them at the appropriate times (with food that is suitable for them), to be active (play and walks), and the biggest one, to share. We learn from animals, and they also learn from us. Though we can't have a conversation, we teach each other core skills. Someone to love is one of the most necessary things in life, and an animal will give you the best love.

Cats are a different story. Sure, you learn from each other and love one another, but they are a different animal completely. They take more control of the schedules, including feeding times, affection spurts, and naps. They differ from dogs in that they will tell you like it is, regardless of whether you like it. All in all, they promote most of the same things that dogs do. Don't let me fool you, I have a cat named Luna that I love so much. She brings me a great deal of happiness. One of the biggest things she has taught me is to always maintain your comfort.

There are also many other pets that deserve a home and that could promote happiness and healthy habits in your life. I suggest that you give it some thought. I wouldn't trade my cat for the world.
